Originally from Nova Scotia, Jill holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts from NSCAD University and a Bachelor of Education from the University of Calgary. Now based in Calgary, Alberta, she works as a high school art educator and practicing visual artist, dedicated to both fostering creativity in others and cultivating her own artistic practice.

Jill’s work is grounded in a strong sense of place, drawing inspiration from the natural environments she connects with most deeply, from the rugged Atlantic coastlines of Eastern Canada to the dramatic landscapes of the Rocky Mountains and the desert formations of Utah. Her artwork spans a range of media, including intricate Victorian-era inspired ink drawings, mixed media landscapes, and vibrant illustrations.

With a focus on detail, texture, and storytelling, Jill explores how memory, environment, and imagination intersect. Her pieces often reflect the contrast between historical and contemporary influences, blending traditional aesthetics with a modern sensibility.

When not in the studio or classroom, Jill finds creative energy in the outdoors. Time spent hiking, traveling, and exploring with her dog, Jolene, continues to inform and inspire her work.
